Millbrae

 

Millbrae lies in the northern part of San Mateo County, just southwest of San Francisco International Airport and relatively close to San Francisco. The town encompasses a level area surrounding El Camino Real and Hwy 101 before ascending into the western hills near Hwy 280. Millbrae experienced a boom in housing construction after World War II. It is a middle to upper-middle class community comprised of a diversity of neighborhoods made up of smaller and larger homes, many of which offer beautiful views. Transportation has fueled Millbrae’s growth and, in addition to SFO, the town offers convenient access to freeways as well as being served by BART, Cal Train (which includes Silicon Valley), and SamTrans; all of which make this town easy to commute from and to. Public schools in Millbrae are excellent, with consistently high academic rankings. The town is also the home of Green Hills Country Club which was designed by famed golf course architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie (who designed other noteworthy courses such as Augusta National, Cypress Point, Pasatiempo, and many more). There are ten community parks in Millbrae and its annual Arts and Wine Festival is a popular event, drawing over 100,000 visitors.
